Charming & Creative Engagement from Blake Loates Photography
Today’s engagement is pretty rad and includes two extremely creative people: Mike & Justine. The session is charming and just filled with their personality. Through the lens of Blake Loates Photography , we get a glimpse of the space that they live in, their style and talents. Justine is a calligraphy artist and can make anything in writing look so good. I’ve gotta say, this session fits into my box of some of favorite sessions that I’ve ever received. Enjoy!
The proposal:
We were in Banff taking the gondola up with some friends of ours. It was a top Sulphur Mountain when my friend Candice handed me a wrapped present. I opened it up to see a frame with four pictures of Mike kneeling down on one knee and presenting a small red box. When I looked away from the picture, Mike was actually on one knee in front of me with a small red box open with a beautiful custom designed ruby ring in it ready to propose! It was a great surprise and totally unexpected.
How they met:
On a one way ticket, I made my way to visit my bestie in Christchurch, New Zealand. I worked in her family run craft beer pub where I met Mike. I ended up staying for six months. After the large earthquake hit February 22, I made my way back to Canada in March where Mike soon followed in May.
