Bridal Fashion Week: Berta Bridal

As you may already know, one of our editors had the opportunity to attend Bridal Fashion Week this past week.  We will be sharing some beautiful images from the runway along with the inspiration behind every collection. Enjoy!

Kate Bedrick from CodedPR shared with us:

“The inspiration for the new BERTA collection is derived in many ways from the world of Botany, and in particular – Flowers. As the crown jewels of the plants world, Flowers are fascinating to behold, magical to smell and have an endless array of colors. They arouse all senses, and have an admirable inner-complexity.

The Fall 2017 bridal collection from BERTA includes 30 masterpiece creations, sophisticated in cut & structure, and brings a new kind of aesthetics, emphasizing 3D flowers and lace appliques design, along with rich embellishments and brave use of color.

It’s a collection unlike any other, celebrating the design and craftsmanship capabilities to their max, with all dresses made from the finest materials. Each dress is a unique design that can stand alone, apart from any collection, and tell a different story about the bride that wears it. From boho, to art-deco, to rich and glamorous. Just like the variety that can be found in the world of flowers – all are different from one another but equally pretty on their own right. This collection has all of those different styles infused in it, while maintaining the famous BERTA fit & cut.

This collection brings a sensation of liberalism, nature wild freedom, and bold use of artistic approach to design. Those are gowns that were created in order to get the bride who wears them down the aisle, to blossom in the biggest day of her life.”Bridal Fashion Week: Berta Bridal

Claire Pettibone

The Gilded Age, from about 1870 to 1900 was a time of expansion and wealth centered in New York as the city was becoming the epicenter of society and culture in the United States. So many amazing estates were built, parties thrown, and opulence ruled the day. As always, my aesthetic is never flashy or overdone, but I found great inspiration in this era of extravagance, and created a collection using elements of metallic embroidery, delicate beading, and embellishment that would be right at home with society¹s finest, and yet, remain true to my romantic sensibility.

Claire Pettibone

I was creating my first fine jewelry collection with Trumpet and Horn while designing these dresses, so the idea of rose gold, aquamarine, and pearls found their way into the gowns as well. Some of my favorite pieces include the metallic thread embroideries. An alternative to white or ivory, these textiles shimmer and impart a beautiful glow to the bride.

The hair and make-up inspiration was a nod to the Gibson Girl who became so popular during this era, but whenever I refer to history, I always try to offer it in a modern way, so that it doesn¹t come off as a costume, but as inspiration for a bride. Vivianna Martin, for Kevyn Aucoin and the Oscar Blandi teams did an amazing job bringing the look to life. Voluminous up-dos, rosy cheeks, and gold accented eyes gave the models a timeless beauty.

Emmy London shoes were a perfect match. Emmy and I chatted about colors and general inspiration months before, and so it all made for beautiful pairings on the runway. And of course the Trumpet & Horn jewels, with touches of Edwardian and Victorian inspiration made a sparkling finishing touch.

Hope you enjoy the video with some behind-the-scenes of our day, as we photographed our 2016 ad campaign with Emily Soto and held our New York runway show that evening.

Classy and Charming – Real Wedding of K + J

When looking at Kaitlin and Jeff’s wedding, the perfect way to describe it can be wrapped up in one word: “classy”. This was the look that the couple was going for, and they certainly accomplished exactly what they wanted from this day!

The wedding was made up of navy, white, and soft pink colors, and all of them blended perfectly. The feeling of the wedding was gentle, yet exciting and romantic. Kaitlin explains her favorite details in her own words:

“I loved how the first floor changed between the ceremony and reception.  The ceremony was beautiful with an arch of flowers and greenery that we stood in front of.  Then when we came downstairs from cocktails for dinner it was amazing to see how the space had been transformed for the reception.”

The wedding was located at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, which was the perfect place for Kaitlin and Jeff’s classy and sophisticated wedding.
