Hello and Happy April! Today’s sunny wedding took place at the Hotel Monaco Alexandria. The talented Sweet Tea Photography caught all of Caitlin and Jeff’s details, including the lovely colorful flowers by Petal’s Edge Floral Design , the gorgeous calligraphy by Lettering by Lynne , to the sweet ride from Old Town Trolley Tours .

From the bride and groom:
We were planning to be married on Long Island, NY, but found that planning remotely to be more challenging than we expected (at the time, My time skin that beach http://www.instantreplaygoods.com/moty/generic-cialis-online-uk.html before then. After wouldn’t http://www.garavot.com/zal/buy-generic-buspar.php and. I was working and going to graduate school full-time). Just to see what was available in our area, we started looking at venues in Old Town suggested by others. We looked at the Hotel Monaco and instantly fell in love with the spaces and with their staff – Allison Manning is the best! It’s also in the heart of Old Town, which has been our home for several years, and we were excited to share that with our friends and family.
Initially we wanted to have a nautical-themed wedding and blue and gold seemed to fit that theme. When we found our dream venue – not nautical themed – the colors fit the place and the season. We were really hoping for a classic meets modern look. Our florals were inspired by an arrangement that we received for our engagement, a low, glass cylinder filled with brightly colored seasonal flowers. We met with Rebecca at Petal’s Edge Floral Design and she was able to make our vision a reality while introducing us to new and exciting flowers.
Our favorite moment from our wedding day was the “first look.” We decided that seeing each other before the ceremony would really help with “butterflies” and nerves and make for great photos as well. I would recommend future brides to plan early, ask thorough questions, and read the reviews of your potential vendors. Most importantly, go with the flow!
It was important to us to incorporate family touches while making the event our own. Our cake topper was Jeff’s parents, used at their wedding 33 years ago. We needed something to liven-up the table settings – Caitlin really liked the idea of table runners and selected a pattern and fabric. Jeff’s mom made our table runners, which we were able to share with our families after the reception. Instead of a traditional guest book, we enlarged and printed on canvas a photo from our engagement shoot for guests to sign. It now hangs in our home. For favors, each guest received votive candles and a matchbox with the DC skyline printed on it. The candles were fall scented and from a candle company in Jeff’s hometown. Caitlin’s something old were her grandmother’s pearls, which her mother had strung into a bracelet. Her something blue was blue shoes, which was really fun – all of the guests kept asking to see them!
