What experience can a bride and her bridesmaids expect when they contact your store?
A bride and her bridesmaids can expect a one on one personal consultation when visiting Bella Bridesmaid. Appointments are required but this ensures that each bride receives the highest level of individual attention. During each one hour appointment, our sales consultants discuss the bride’s vision for her wedding, preferable fabrics, styles, looks, colors and price points. With over ten designers and more arriving this fall, there is truly something for every bride.
Most often, a bride will come in with one or two of her maids. The maids will model various dresses while the bride relaxes. Once the bride has selected a dress, her bridesmaids can be measured the same day or schedule another time to come back and be fitted for the dress. With Bella Bridesmaid stores around the country, bridesmaids living out of town can call their local store and ask for a courtesy fitting. If they do not live close to a Bella Bridesmaid, we are happy to advise them over the phone based on their own measurements.
How far in advance do you need to begin selecting, altering, and adding finishing touches to a bridesmaid dress to avoid stress?
Brides will typically schedule their first appointment with us between 7-8 months before the wedding. The first appointment is really spent narrowing down what they like and dislike and picking a few colors to match their theme.
Some brides are decisive enough to make a final decision then but other brides will schedule a follow up appointment around 6 months before the wedding. Every designer has different lead times but to avoid stress, we recommend that brides place their order around 5 months in advance. This allows enough time for the dresses to be shipped to each bridesmaid and to get any alterations if needed. While Bella Bridesmaid does not do any in house alterations, we are happy to recommend local tailors.
What are a few of the upcoming trends that you see from the brands you carry for this fall and winter?
We just met with a few of our exclusive designers to view their new collections and an emerging theme was girly accents. We have seen a lot of ruffles, bows and rosette details which turn an otherwise simple dress into something unique.
The one shoulder trend from last year is continuing as well. It’s a great option for girls who want to show off their shoulders but who also want something more comfortable than a strapless. Finally, I think we will see a lot more bold colors, particularly the royal blues, deep teals, and eggplants because these colors look great on multiple skin tones.
Do you carry any other merchandise in addition to dresses?
We have various accessories to complete each bridesmaid’s look, including sashes, belts, pins, wraps, jewelry and brooches. For the younger attendants, we have flower girl dresses, hair petals, headbands and ring bearer pillows. Our customizable silk and satin clutches make great bridesmaid gifts and most of our designers also have coordinating men’s ties and pocket squares to match the bridesmaid dresses.
