RiverView Terrace

When I think of D.C., I think of beautiful Potomac River views. Can you imagine a wedding set on the banks of the Potomac? Well, I certainly can at the beautiful RiverView Terrace at the Gaylord National Resort and Conference Center.

RiverView Terrace

The site features tenting by Sugarplum Tent Company – one of my favorites !  I am giddy just thinking about planning a wedding under the clear top tent over the gorgeous green grass overlooking the water!!

The Gaylord National Resort can accommodate wedding events of all sizes, whether it’s an intimate ceremony for 10, or a full-blown bash for 1,000.

Top of the Town

Washington, D.C. is a stunning city, from the striking monuments to the Potomac River. What could be better than enjoying all of these views during your D.C. wedding?

Luckily, you can see a gorgeous panoramic view of the city at Top of the Town , located just one block west of the Iwo Jima memorial and just steps from the Rosslyn metro stop.

Top of the Town

Laura Irwin, of Top of the Town, gushes that “the view becomes the most prominent décor,” a perfectly lovely backdrop for any affair, from ceremonies and receptions to rehearsal dinners.

The reception room features “wall to wall floor to ceiling windows offering extraordinary views” and can host up to 180 guests.  As if the spectacular views and lovely reception room aren’t enough, Top of the Town also boasts a number of other features, including beautiful marble foyer and hallway, as well as gorgeous outdoor terrace.  No matter what time of year it is, Top of the Town will not disappoint as a premiere venue in Washington, D.C.

The Ronald Reagan Building

Last week I was lucky enough to attend the annual Sparkle Lounge at the Ronald Reagan Building .  As if I don’t love the venue enough, they once again totally “wowed” me with the incredible decor, food and, of course, champagne!

The Ronald Reagan Building

I am SO obsessed with the champagne bubble projections and I can totally see a wedding with a cheery (pun intended!) bubble motif — I think I just might need to make an inspiration board with this in mind soon!

Strathmore Mansion and Music Center

You might remember this beautiful “Red Line” wedding that we featured this past spring. Well, whether you are traditional or contemporary, Strathmore Mansion and Music Center is a venue to consider!

The magnificent Georgian Mansion sits high upon a hill, and is surrounded by centuries-old trees, flowering shrubs and perfectly manicured lawns.  The inside features marble and polished oak, glittering chandeliers, gleaming brass fixtures, towering Palladian windows, and a sweeping staircase that just begs for a bridal procession. The Mansion at Strathmore has been the choice for hundreds of couples for their dream weddings.

On the other hand, the grand and contemporary Music Center takes its cues from the rolling hills and park-like setting with a softly undulating roof that appears to merge into the steep hills of the Strathmore property.  A six-story glass wall in the Lockheed Martin Lobby overlooks an 11-acre site of greenery.  With its soaring glass walls and windows throughout, beautiful natural light fills interior spaces of the Music Center, and the accents of natural wood make the spaces warm and inviting.

Both venues provide  a versatile blank canvas that can suit the needs of any individual.  In one campus we have the warm and cozy, historical turn of the century Mansion, and the light and airy brand new, world class performing arts center.

Restaurant Associates is their exclusive caterer at Strathmore.   Adaptable to suit many needs and tastes, Catering by Restaurant Associates will custom-design the menu for your dream wedding.  The Director of Catering will be present throughout the reception to oversee the event.  Like when working with most caterers, Restaurant Associates is responsible for renting all of your tables, chairs and other equipment for the reception.

Strathmore Mansion and Music Center

The Strathmore Campus now features a “one stop shop” for all those hosting an event at Strathmore.  The Facilities Rentals Manager and Director of Catering share an office space in a brand new Events Showcase, where the happy couple can browse through endless options of linens, china, flatware and stemware.

Top of the Town

One of the best ways to incorporate the lovely city of DC into your wedding is to somehow include the gorgeous and stately monuments – whether as part of a photo shoot, a clever and memorable favor, or, in the case of Top of the Town , a breathtaking backdrop as you say your vows and dance into the night.

Top of the Town, a venue located in Arlington, VA, allows you to host your wedding with the the DC skyline in the background.

Top of the Town

Whether looking out the 12-foot windows or from the outdoor terrace, the sweeping panoramic views, including the Kennedy Center, Washington Monument, the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, all the way around to Fort Myer and the new Air For Memorial are breathtaking! I can hear the “oohs” and “ahhs” already!

Couples can choose to host both the ceremony and the reception in Top of the Town ’s reception ballroom, which can be divided, if needed, into sections, as well as on the outdoor terrace. Cross your fingers for good weather so that you can dance in celebration as the sun drops, the air chills, and the monuments begin to glow.

Other wonderful aspects of Top of the Town are the beautiful glass enclosed elevator, elegant chandeliers, vaulted ceilings, and its classic, gorgeous décor. Plus, it is centrally located and easily accessible from DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and is only minutes from both the Reagan National Airport and the Rosslyn Metro Station.
