Latest Obsession: Painted Glass Vases

I always love do-it-yourself projects that put a stamp on your wedding day. I know all too well that it’s sometimes hard to find vases or containers for your centerpieces in colours that complement your wedding colours. Needless to say, when we do find the perfect vase, it ends up being beyond what we intended on spending ($$ anyone?).

So latest obsession…painted “containers”, including glass, cans, jars..you name it. It’s cost-effective and can be a really fun project.

You can either apply the paint on the outside (especially for tin cans), or you can apply it to the inside of glass so that it’s protected from damage and the vase remains smooth on the outside.

A couple tips if you’re looking to do this:

– for tin cans, ensure you apply a white primer first before applying 2-3 coats of your choice in paint colour.
– if adding colour to the inside of a glass jar/vase, mix a bit of the paint with some white spirit (paint thinner), so the paint runs more smoothly and you use less paint overall.
– spray painting your containers works just as well.
