Woodsy Lake Wedding in Ontario
Mike and Lauren’s wedding was just a pleasure to put together for today’s feature. With the help of Divine Weddings & Events , their wedding was held at a yacht club on a secluded island on Lake of the Woods near Kenora, Ontario. The wedding was all about good eats as Mike was part of the top 5 of last season’s Masterchef Canada (avid watcher here!). The wedding was woodsy and rustic with eclectic touches including little animal figurines used as labels for the food and unique terrarium centerpieces. Love, love, love! The wedding was captured by Luckygirl Photography .
Mike and Lauren spend a lot of time at Lake of the Woods – so it was only fitting that their summer wedding be held at the lake. They chose the Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club for their ceremony and reception.
The yacht club is located on a secluded island on Lake of the Woods near Kenora, Ontario. The most important aspects to them for their wedding was the food (Mike is a real foodie, being one of the top five finalists on the latest season of Masterchef Canada) and for guests to have a spectacular time dancing the night away. Their central theme was the natural aspects of Lake of the Woods, but also they incorporated Mr and Mrs Fox into their stationery, adding something fun and whimsical to their lakeside theme. They opted for terrarium style centerpieces, using burlap and lace accents to soften the look, as well as mason jars filled with succulents. Peonies and pheasant feathers filled mason jars placed on the chairs at the ceremony, and the bouquet and boutonniere also had peonies, feathers, pods, and curly willow.
Mike and Lauren chose not to have a wedding party, but spent the morning getting ready with their families and closest friends. Guests were able to soak in the stunning picturesque views as they were shuttled in on pontoon boats, and were greeted with champagne before taking their spots on the deck to watch the ceremony. The bride and groom were both escorted to the ceremony on separate boats. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Followed by speeches, guests were treated to amazing food stations custom designed by the bride and groom themselves. Charcuterie station, short rib and mashed potato station, pickerel taco station, and pie station, as well as aged white cheddar mac and cheese for the late night snack.
Guests enjoyed cocktails while dancing the night away to the Pink Socks. Mike even got in on the action and joined the band for a song.
