Bohemian Inspired Alberta Wedding
Kismet & Clover sent over today’s feature that was definitely a labour of love. Captured by C Koop Photography , Ashley and Devon wanted a bohemian inspired wedding filled with loads of fabric and lace, along with brass and metal pieces and green stained glassware. It’s unique and entirely perfect for the style of the bride and groom.
Says Jessica and the Kismet & Clover team: There are so many lovely things to say about this wedding and equally lovely couple. The story of Ashley & Devon in itself is so sweet. They are both bonded by a strong love for music and art, which served as the foundation for their bohemian lovefest. The chemistry between the both of them is undeniably genuine, not to mention contagious. Now both in their mid-twenties, they are young parents to two adorable little girls (which at the bride’s request, we are not submitting photos of the girls to respect their privacy). Together, the four of them have built a life of love, patience and gratitude, with an honest and refreshing grassroots perspective and approach.
What truly made this wedding so unique is the tremendous community support & involvement from their friends and family. Holding true to their beliefs, A + D didn’t want to spend their life’s savings on this wedding. They very much wanted their loved ones to be involved. It was amazing to see how everyone contributed something to their special day to help out in any way they could. Friends and family brought potluck items, desserts, helped hand pick wild flowers for the decor, lent out heirlooms, helped craft special details, assisted with setting up and tearing down. You could feel the love of a community that entirely supported their unison. Of all the weddings we’ve styled – the love and emotion from this one took our breaths away.
The entire celebration was outdoors – ceremony and reception. Dear friends of the couple sang and played music, including the bride & groom AND the groom’s mother! The best part of the wedding was when the groom and mom sang a song together (he playing the guitar, she singing). They sang ‘Dock of a Bay’ – this was the song Devon’s mom used to sing to him as a lullaby and now sings to her grandchildren. It brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
We wanted this wedding to embody their kind souls, loving hearts & bohemian lifestyle in a very grassroots and whimsical kind of way. We did this by incorporating a lot of bohemian type decor – brass & metal platters and vases, rich fabric patterns. There was also an adornment of green stained glassware that was collected by the bride. All of the rustic furniture was provided by Kismet & Clover, as well as a variety of custom-made decor pieces. They were married at an old Girl Guide’s campsite, which was big and boasted lots of nooks for the perfect setups.
Key styled areas were:
– Outdoor living room
– Boho tent
– Dance floor and stage with globe lights & pennants
– Dessert area
– Lemonade stand & candy bar
– Guest sign-in area
– Ceremony area
– Guest seating and head table
A lot of fabric and lace in the form of garlands, pennants, curtains and embroidery hoops were used to achieve that whimsical look we were aiming for.
You can tell by the pictures that the bride & groom’s keen eye for aesthetics and DIY (cutest teapot ever for walking down the aisle!) really helped complete the overall look of this unforgettable wedding! We loved styling every minute of it.
