I know I left you all this past Friday with such excitedment for autumn, but yikes, where did this cold rain come from that we have outside?!?!  Well, no worries because today’s wedding will warm you right up!

Stephanie Van Dyke and Dan Bowen were married at St. Rita Parish in Alexandria, VA with their reception at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda.  Not only are they an adorable couple, the wedding is so cheery!  Thank you to incredibly talented Paul Morse for sharing the wedding with us!  Enjoy!!

Stephanie and Dan took advantage of the uniqueness of the D.C. area by stopping between the wedding and the reception at the Lincoln Memorial for pictures with their wedding party. Paul Morse captured some great moments, and got a huge kick out of the tourists who were all snapping pictures of them, too.  You will also see their adorable wedding favors later in the post – white chocolate monuments – Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington, and the Capitol – made by a chocolate boutique in Georgetown.

One of the first things I noticed when I started looking at these pictures was the beautiful bolero. Well, amazingly enough, Stephanie told us that there was a great story behind the piece…

“One highlight on Carine of Carine’s Bridal Atelier, besides the fact that she is very talented and had MY dress in her stylish boutique, is that I’d already purchased the dress, and it was perfect, but then I discovered I had to have my shoulders covered during our entire full service ceremony.  Carine handled the situation incredibly and ended up designing and making a lace bolero for me wear during the wedding, that looked fabulous, and was easily removed for the reception.”

Stephanie also told us about one of her favorite moments,

“My favorite moments from the wedding are when my father handed me to my husband at the front of the church.  My dad kissed me on the cheek, and my husband took my hand and told me I was beautiful.  THAT was a fabulous moment.  We are both so close with our families, and family was a huge part of our wedding day.”

The bouquets by Multiflor add such a lovely pop of color against the cool blue bridesmaid dresses!

Oh, and those adorable white chocolate monument favors — you can get them at Truffles Belgian Chocolates in Georgetown.

Congrats to Stephanie and Dan! And, in case you were wondering, yes, they have an adorable proposal story…

“Dan proposed to me at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA.  My family has gone to The Homestead since my siblings and I can remember, and they were spending Thanksgiving there.  I had to work the Friday after Thanksgiving so I planned to drive down Friday night and make a quick trip for the weekend.  I assumed Dan wouldn’t come because he had to work, and his family was in DC – but he really wanted to come.  The Homestead was decorated for the Christmas holiday, it was gorgeous, and really cold.  The two of us got there late, and headed for drinks in the President’s Lounge, then walked through the hotel to see all the Christmas trees and Gingerbread houses.  We went to an outdoor fireplace surrounded with Christmas lights… after talking for awhile and enjoying the relaxing night he dropped to a knee with and it was romantic and perfect.”
