Happy Friday! Kaitlin and Keith met at a mutual friend’s BBQ three years ago and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Kaitlin knows all about weddings because she’s the current Director of Nuptials at Saunders Farm , a unique venue in Ottawa where she and Keith will be married at in June. Their e-session captured by Blair Gable Photography is absolutely sweet and just seeing the photos and from our little emails, I can tell they’re just perfect for each other. Enjoy this two-part session that ended with a yummy plate of poutine!

The proposal story:

Keith proposed in January. He had the whole thing planned out, bless him, and it didn’t go according to plan. He had gone into my apartment and decorated and cooked dinner and was planning to catch me off guard when I got home from work, since I thought he was working that evening. Unfortunately I didn’t feel much like going home that evening, so I drove straight across the city after work to go to dinner with my sister. He called me as I pulled off the highway and was very flustered, saying, “You HAVE to turn around and come home! I made dinner and it’s a VERY BIG DEAL!” I got it right away and turned around and drove straight home.

It was a weird drive, knowing what to expect, but I had one of my best friends on the phone calming me down. I pulled into my parking lot and climbed the stairs and Keith was in the living room, on his knee. He proposed, and the plans began!

Following the outdoor shots, Kaitlin and Keith went to Elgin Diner (my favorite place to visit in Ottawa!) for some super cute shots with Blair.

We would often end a date with a trip to the Elgin Street Diner for a serving of the greasy fry concoction, so Blair suggested we do a shoot with that in mind. It was a personal touch and we loved the results.

Kaitlin shares that the decor for her June wedding will be simple and DIY with rustic details in a combination of off-whites and various vintage colours.

We’ll have all kinds of glass vases I’ve been collecting from vintage and second hand shops and green and white flowers. We’re also going to have wood details everywhere. Very excited to have it all come together.

Can’t wait to see it! XOXO

UPDATE! Here’s some behind-the-scenes footage for the engagement shoot.
