Katie & Kevin wanted a wedding an ethically sourced wedding, choosing items from small, local businesses and supporting handcrafted artists on Etsy or creating items themselves. It made for an entirely custom wedding with an appreciation for the details. Captured by Arts & Craft Photography , I am in absolute love with the color choices, a pairing of soft orange with cream and grounded by dark brown. A nod to the past was the gorgeous vintage inspired gown was made by Canadian designer Paloma Blanca which was individualized with the addition of buttons from Katie’s grandmother’s gown down the back of her dress. Love!

Katie & Kevin’s beautiful, outdoor wedding from this past summer, really was something unique and a pleasure to photograph. I seriously had to stop tears throughout their ceremony.

Firstly, the couple worked to try to make their wedding as ethically sourced as possible. Everything was either purchased from a small, local businesses, purchased from an artists on etsy or DIY. How great is that!

Katie’s vintage inspired dress was custom made from in Canada by Paloma Blanca in Toronto. To make her dress even more gorgeous and unique, the buttons from her grandmother’s gown were added to the back of her dress. What a fantastic way of incorporating a family heirloom!

The lovely ceremony location was in a small forested plot of land that was once the site of a church that Katie’s family had been part of for generations. the natural landscape provided a perfect backdrop for the scene. The groomsmen and Katie’s father created from tree branches and clothes of canvas, a simple, but beautiful alter. The details were all hand made and complimented the natural scene beautifully.

Now let’s talk about that wedding party! They didn’t need to even be convinced to get in the water! I took a look at the scene and said, “that river is gorgeous” and the next thing I knew Katie was leading her girls down the steep hill that lead to the water. I had to catch up with them! And wasn’t it worth it! The shots of the wedding party and the couple playing in the water are some of the most fun, and unique that I have ever taken. And guess what, her dress didn’t get a mark on it!

I feel so grateful to have gotten to meet such a fun and creative couple. It was truly a pleasure to be part of their day!
