Personal Update: Ceremony Prelude Tunes
Now that I’m back in the thick of things, I thought it was time to share some more details of my wedding for all those who care! If you’re at all interested in the songs I chose as the prelude music, read on. Prelude songs are those that you play while the guests are arriving and are waiting for the ceremony to start. For me, this is a time where you get to set the tone/mood and provide some background music so you don’t hear everyone’s conversations. I’ve been to weddings where there has been silence and guests sat in silence as well….not exactly the best! But keep in mind the type of venue that you are at, because some will have restrictions on what you can or cannot play…especially churches. Luckily, our ceremony was held at a music hall, so we had free reign.
Jason and I decided to choose 5 of our favorite songs that were appropriate for everyone, yet unique and special to us. They ended up being about 30 minutes long, which I think is just about right, since most guests begin arriving soon after. If you have any other suggestions, I’d love to hear them!
Robin Thicke – Lost Without You
Al Green – Let’s Stay Together
Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat – Lucky
Mat Kearney – Closer to Love
The Bird and the Bee – How Deep is Your Love
