Join Kate St. John for a presentation on peregrine falcons this Friday at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC). Peregrine falcons have been successfully reintroduced in the U.S. and in many eastern states. Peregrine falcons were considered extinct 50 years ago in eastern North America but have been removed from the Endangered Species List in the U.S.

St. John will describe the history of the peregrine crash and recovery, breeding strategies, and notable breeding sites in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. “Peregrine Falcons, an Environmental Success Story” will begin at 7:00 pm and will be followed by a social gathering with the Presque Isle Audubon Society.

The program is free and open to the public.
