Meteor Shower Tonight
In case you weren’t busy tonight and are also able to flee the light pollution of the Greater L.A. area, you should grab some blankets and binoculars and settle in for a meteor shower.
The annual Eta Aquarid Meteor Shower will occur this evening, and pepper the Northern Hemisphere with 20-30 meteors per hour, mostly in the moon-free one just before local sunrise time. The Southern Hemisphere will get a much bigger show, but according to spaceweather.com , the ones we see are more likely to be big “earthgrazers,” the sometimes-yellowtailed meteors which the OC Register describes as “spectacular,” “slow and dramatic.”
So grab a thermos and coffee and pitch yourself a reclining chair and enjoy the show!
