Cabin Fever fly fishing show March 4 in Pittsburgh

If you’re looking to mix a short road trip with some outdoors activity this weekend, try the Penn’s Woods West Chapter of Trout Unlimited ‘s annual Cabin Fever Fishing March 4 at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Pittsburgh’s North Hills.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7 and children under 12 are admitted for free.

Dealers, outfitters, guide services and others will be on hand, along with speakers such as Katy Dunla p, Trout Unlimited’s National Eastern Water Project director, who will discuss “Sportsmen Efforts to Address Marcellus Shale Impacts on Fish & Wildlife.”

George Daniel will talk about “Fishing the Dry Dropper,” and Mike Heck , author of “Spring Creek Strategies” will discuss spring creeks in south-central Pennsylvania.

Montana fly fishing guide Dennis Hanson will make a presentation about his fishing adventure to the middle of the Frank Church Wilderness of No Return and rafting on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River.

Greg Kassimer will give a “Euro Primer” on short (Czech/Polish) and long line (French/Spanish) tactics.
