Contemporary Wedding at the Art Gallery of Alberta
Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m an absolute sucker for contemporary weddings, especially those held in art galleries. In fact, I also got married at the same venue of today’s wedding, the beautiful Art Gallery of Alberta. Planned by Caitlin McElhone and captured by Lindsay Skeans Photography , Laura & Curtis kept things minimal and chic to match the simplicity of the venue. Enjoy!
What was your favorite wedding moment?
Standing in front of our family and closest friends, holding hands, and expressing our vows to each other. That is a moment in time like nothing else, one that we will forever cherish. I thought I was going to explode with happiness. Just thinking about it gives me shivers.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme?
We envisioned a modern, urban, cocktail style wedding. Choosing the Art Gallery of Alberta was the perfect canvas for this. The colors (grey and white colors, with pops of yellow) were chosen because they’re fresh, clean, and timeless. The fun details; HE/SHE canvases, flavored popcorn, and photobooth, gave it a unique, personal touch. We kept the details simple to focus on what was important to us.
Any advice for future brides/grooms-to-be?
- Decide what is important to you both.
- Create a very detailed budget and stick to it.
- Do not get overwhelmed by the little things.
- Accept help from others when it is offered.
- Be present.
- Relax and soak up each and every moment, this is your perfect day!
