The decore kept in line with the theme of black, white and lilac. I really like the black and white backdrop, not to mention the nice lanterns – I bet they lit up the room when the lights were dimmed.

The centerpieces were Victorian inspired and provided by Balay Kandila. The cake was a three-tiered fondant apple walnut carrot cake which was served along with wine at the beginning of the evening. Suzanne notes this is a very common in Philipino weddings because it allows guests to take part in the cake cutting in case they step out after the dinner.

Suzanne’s also a big fan of Michael Buble (Love him!). “Come Fly With Me” for their entrance, “Sway” for the first dance and a Beatles instrumental medley played in the background during dinner.

Suzanne’s advice for future brides:

Prioritize. You can always have a budgeted wedding, just know the details which are important to you. On our engagement days, my hubby and I agreed upon that the Church, Photography, and Food will be our top three. These three can cost us much… then the other details can be budgeted. Stick to that, and you’ll have a beautiful wedding. And I think we did. At the end of the day (until now as a matter of fact!), guests that day will always remember how sumptuous the food served that day and how beautiful our church was. Not to forget that they always fall in love with the photos. We had no regrets in choosing our top three because those were the ones remembered.

We had lots of workaround with the other details. We believe that the rest of those can be on the much affordable side of our budget but still end up beautiful if well prepared for. Having wide list of contacts is also the key. Word of mouth helps a lot. You can always hear who are the best suppliers in the industry from a happy client. So widen your network. Personal touch is also important. It makes you proud at the end of the day. I myself did our invites. We just looked for a printing company. My hubby and I were hands on we even placed all the crystals on our invitations. I designed the tarpaulins, the stickers. The pens, the unity candle even the matches, the prayer… were all personalized. We even had the tables named after chocolates (e.g. godiva, delafee, leonidas, and so on). Our giveaways were lilac crystal bags and ivory capiz boxes with chocolates inside (hersheys miniatures).

Thanks for sharing your wedding with us, especially all those tips Suzanne!
