NWPA Musky Bite

This nearly 40 inch muskellunge fell for a slowly worked lure, while targeting walleye from French Creek, near Saegertown. Working my lure through a deep pool brought a big strike and I missed the fish at first. Persistence paid off when a few moments later the fish committed to taking the lure again and put a zing in my drag. This musky was a blast to reel in on a medium action six and a half foot rod. I wasn’t fishing with a steel leader and was lucky the sharp toothed fish didn’t cut through the line. After quickly snapping a few photos, the hungry fish was released.
