Birding is a fun outdoor activity and NWPA offers many great areas to observe a vast array of birds. Presque Isle State Park, Pymatuning State Park, and the Erie National Wildlife Refuge are some of the area’s top birding destinations. The seasonal migrations happening now also offer birders a view of many types of birds that can only be seen a few times of the year. Before you decide to go birding why not learn the basics?

The basics of bird watching will be covered during “Introduction to Bird Watching” at the Corry Higher Education Council. This two-part program offers both classroom instruction and birding field trips. Join Instructor Dick Farver as he introduces new birders to key identification field marks, equipment, field guides, migrations, and seasonal variations.

The first classroom session is scheduled for May 2 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The second session is scheduled for May 14 from 8:30 am until noon and will feature a field trip in the local area. An optional second field trip will be offered at an out-of-town location. All levels of bird watchers are encouraged to sign up. The cost for the program is $15.

Call the Corry Hi-Ed at (814) 664-9405 to sign up. Please register by noon on April 28.
