Studio Visit: Lea-Ann Belter Bridal (Toronto)
I am so thrilled to share today’s studio visit, one of my first stops in Toronto this month. I was graciously welcomed by Lea-Ann Belter to her flagship store, a designer who I’ve featured numerous times on Wedding Obsession. See post here & here . Remember the lace Katherine gown? I always share the fact that one of the first bridal gown design collections that I fell in love with was Lea-Ann’s. I can still remember purchasing my first wedding magazine, flipping to one of her gowns and realizing that her simple design aesthetic was exactly what I was looking for. Unbeknownst to me, I’d be sharing her space on the blog with you today. And it’s honestly such an awesome job, I have to pinch myself once in a while just to make sure.
The studio space that I’m showing here is actually moving a block from its original location, but it will still sport its signature wall colour, tiffany blue. The space is entirely calm and chic.
I was lucky enough to see where all the gowns are made, just a flight of stairs down to the lower level where fabric is being cut and delicate lace is sewn on dresses. Each gown is hand made here in Toronto and it’s absolutely amazing the amount of detail and work that goes into creating a dream dress for each bride.
Tucked in the back is a hallway lined with some of Lea-Ann’s potential sketches for her 2013 collection. Talk about behind-the-scenes! It will be interesting to see which ones make the cut. They were all really beautiful designs.
