Discover bats at Chapman State Park
In recent years, bat populations have been threatened in winter months. While hibernating, the white nose fungus is affecting bats and causing them to emerge early. These bats are unable to find food and soon starve. Bats are important because they keep insect populations in check. Hopefully there will be bats out in the park, revealing healthy bats are surviving through winters in Pennsylvania.
Join the Chapman Park naturalist and discover interesting facts about bats, as you watch them emerge to hunt insects. There will also be a viewing of the movie: Season of the Bat.
This event is scheduled from 8:30pm until 10pm. Event participants will meet at the Amphitheater or Pavilion #4 if there is rain. For more information on this event please call Jen Moore 814-723-0250.
