Bride Blogger Catherine is back as a newlywed, home to D.C. and ready to start the next phase of her life!

I spent the last 51 weeks of my life thinking, discussing, planning, and sometimes obsessing over my wedding. Not every decision that we made was easy, but thanks to the group of vendors that we worked with, we truly had a wedding without any glitches.

A few months into the planning process — and after a few meetings that went sour — I learned the importance of trusting the professionals. Afterall, they have seen more weddings than I have and undoubtedly know what’s best when it comes to the timeline, the ceremony, and ensuring your guests comfort. And, when you hire people who you can trust and make you feel at ease, you can enjoy your big day a little more.

I keep trying to think of something that went wrong that weekend, but everytime that I analyze it, I am filled with wonderful memories and the mental images that other brides advised me to take.

My married friends encouraged me to dance as much as possible, to enjoy living in the moment, and to not drink too much because adrenaline serves your memory better than alcohol. They were absolutely right.

I cannot wait to return home to see the photos and the notes that our families and friends shared with us. Before the wedding started, we decided to stay together — literally and figuratively — not only for the emotional support that we felt we needed from one another, but also so when looking back, we would be in most pictures at each other’s side. The ultimate symbol of this pact was our first dance, a song we chose at first because we like the way it sounds. In the end, it became a new way to live our life with each other “Let’s Stay Together.”
