Life in the slow lane

It is true–once you quit traveling and you aren’t doing the “exciting” things anymore, I find it hard to want to write! I mean, I can see why the travel accounts were fun to read, but the day to day life of Heather? Not so cool!!

Things have been getting back to normal here. I started working with my parents’ company last week, and have been trying to get back into the swing of normal life. Having to go to work is weird, and having to wake up early in the morning is even weirder. I have been trying to get used to life in the slow lane, and I think I am just figuring it out. All last week, it felt like I needed to be going somewhere or doing something or talking to someone or just being with people……once I settled in and realized I can actually just be by myself,well…..it was a nice realization!

My mom told me the other day that Alaska Airlines is hiring for customer service reps, and I am thinking of applying. Yes, I am leaving in a few months, but they are based everywhere, so transferring would be easy. Of course, the money sucks and is definitely not the draw to the job, but it would sure be cool for the free tickets…..where does Alaska Airlines fly to? Anyone? Anyone?

There were two hawks on our fenceline today, eating a dead snake that my dad accidentally ran over with the lawn mower. The bigger one–and obviously the guy–wouldn’t share with the girl, and she finally got pissed and tried to steal a little bite. Of course, the big guy didn’t like that and took a huge chunk out of her side and she flew away, cawing and disappointed. Made me really dislike the big guy, but hey–I guess that is Mother Nature, right?!
