Iberà Wetlands

So, we finally made it out of Buenos Aires (again) and went north to this tiny town of 600 people called Colonia Pellegrini…..it was great. They call it a town, but it is really just a peaceful and quiet little village with really friendly and sweet people who are truly willing to go out of their way for you.

Anyway, Pellegrini sits inside the Iberà wetlands, this marsh-type area with lots of animals like lobitos and alligators and capybaras, but since it isn`t quite a huge tourist destination yet, prices are still affordable and the animals are still around. We went on a 3 hour boat tour through this marshes and saw TONS of birds and alligators and deer and CAPYBARAS (which are the weirdest looking things ever!), not to mention a beautiful sunset. I swear, we could really take some of our amateur photos and sell a postcard book or something!

Unfortunately, the drawback of this town is that the only bus out of there leaves at 4 in the morning, so we were outside waiting at 3:30 this morning…..so early! To make the trip even better, it was an incredibly old bus and my window was broken, so I had to endure freezing before-sunrise air for 4 hours…not to mention the entire trip was on a dirt road, and with the broken window, the entire bus was filled with swirling dust. It even got so bad that I put Steve`s bandana around my nose and mouth like a cowboy. I may have looked like an idiot, but at least I could breathe!

So after two busses, we are now in Corrientes, but are heading further north tomorrow to San Ignacio, a small town that is the home of some Jesuit ruins. Again, not a huge tourist attraction, but we have the time and they are supposed to be very cool, so of course, we have to check it out!

Anyway, cause of the bus schedules today, it is 5:30 pm and we still haven`t eaten a single thing today….so I think we are going to go take care of that. Talk to yàll later!
