Beautiful Rustic Wedding in Calgary

It was an absolute joy putting together today’s wedding feature captured by the talented Clayton Austin . It probably took me longer than usual because I spent hours going through all the images, trying to choose just the right ones to share with you. Aisa is a web designer and Ted is a photographer, so both had a keen eye for detail when planning this wedding, aiming for a rustic, yet romantic wedding. And succeed they did, as this wedding is just the right mix, including delicate pink blooms and rustic wood details and the unexpected, yet lovely use of succulents throughout.

How did you two meet?

We met in night class at an art school. He asked me if I wanted to go to Banff with him on a mini photo-shoot and that’s how it all started.

What was your favourite wedding moment?

Walking down the aisle and seeing all the smiles on friends and families’ faces.

It’s really interesting to pick out things and put it together hoping that it will all fall into one cohesive look. I had almost 2 years to plan and buy stuff but didn’t really start until 9 months prior because of my procrastinating nature. It took me awhile to collect all the milk glass vase via kijiji and garage sales. I love crafting so I wanted to DIY everything but when time ran out near the end I bought the rest from etsy. Centerpieces: the wood stumps were bought from a previous wedding, painted with chalk paint and then drawn with a chalk pen. The pinecones were collected during a cold day at the park, all similar sizes, cleaned and sprayed but so cute. The table runners were made the day before, ribbons purchased from etsy and linen purchased at an online fabric store. My husband helped me make the table seating chart from an old frame, picture hooks, and some twine. Favors were tins of David’s tea and everybody were able to pick from 5 different flavors. I bought three rolls of craft strings and used it throughout my invitations, decor and bouquet. I had my florist make birch floral cones and a rustic floral arch. It really added to the wedding ceremony and I loved it! In the end, everything turned out so beautiful, beyond words.

Any advice for future brides/grooms-to-be?
