Those of you who are engaged will love today’s outdoor bridal shower for bride-to-be Vanessa. It’s all kinds of girly in a pretty palette of pink, white and mint. The event was hosted by Vanessa’s sister Heather, who just so happens to be a fantastic photographer ( With Love Heather ), so so she captured all the lovely details. You just might want to bookmark and send this one over to your maid of honor or mother/mother-in-law just as a sweet little hint ;)

Says Heather: I recently hosted/photographed a bridal shower for my sister with a backyard garden theme with lots of cute, feminine DIY details! The day started out with rain but I had everyone I knew praying that the sky would clear and luckily it did just in time for a fast and speedy set up! Her amazing husband-to-be showed up at the end with flowers so we had a great opportunity at the end to take some great shots of the cute couple as well!

Paul & Vanessa’s engagement story:

In July of 2012 Paul and I made the trip from Ontario to Newfoundland to attend my cousin’s wedding (shout out to Tim and Lesley-Ann Manning!). My dad, step-mom, sisters and their significant others were also able to attend so we made a little family vacation out of it. Since we were traveling to Newfoundland for a wedding, I had no idea that Paul was planning to propose – thankfully he waited until after Tim and Lesley’s big day!

The day after the wedding, we decided to do some sight seeing at Cape Spear which is located on the Avalon Peninsula near St. John’s, Newfoundland. Shortly before the trip, Paul and I had moved into a new house and one of the first things we did to put some finishing touches on our living room was to put up beautiful framed photos that my talented sister had taken at Cape Spear when she was living in Newfoundland. There is one photo in particular that Paul and I both love of a white picket fence and rustic door frame that is positioned on the very edge of a cliff. Naturally, when we arrived at Cape Spear, we gravitated in the direction of where this photo was taken. As we were walking I remember looking around and wondering where my sisters had wandered off to as suddenly Paul and I were alone. The next thing I knew we were at the fence and Paul was down on one knee. Of course I said ‘YES!’ and then realized that my sisters had been in on the plan all along. They were waiting close by with champagne for us to celebrate! It was so meaningful for Paul to propose in one of my favorite places, and very special for my sisters, their significant others and my amazing nephew Jackson to be there for the big event.

Funny side note: The rustic door frame had actually blown over the cliff since the picture was originally taken, so when we got to the fence it took Paul a while to realize that we were in the right spot!
