Modern Marriott Vancouver Wedding from Love Tree Photography
I love architecture & Vancouver, so when it’s paired together for a contemporary wedding, it’s pretty much my kind of wedding. Captured by Love Tree Photography, Andrew & Breanna had a yellow & grey wedding filled with loads of DIY details.
Says the photographer: With weather that is often overcast or rainy the only way to ensure you have sunshine in Vancouver on your wedding day is to bring your own with a summery yellow colour scheme. This DIY urban Vancouver wedding boasted eye-catching citrus yellows and cool greys for a fresh summery feel. With her handmade bouquet in hand Breanna had her first look at her handsome groom Andrew at Coal Harbour, in the downtown core of Vancover overlooking the ocean, Stanley Park and the north shore mountains.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding decor?
Our inspiration behind our overall wedding decor and colors was very simple. We wanted nice spring colors that were unique and we wanted a modern look. Originally we had decided on red, black and white for our color scheme, but we both felt it wasn’t exactly what we had in mind and it didn’t suit our June wedding. We wanted something that would work on a sunny day or a cloudy day, but had the colors that would brighten your day (a happy color). I was looking a grey weddings with pink or red and one morning Andrew said what about yellow? I don’t really like yellow so I said ew no. But kept having visions of grey and yellow and I could picture everything from decor to flowers and on and on, so we had found our unique colors.
What was your favourite wedding moment?
The whole atmosphere was amazing, everyone was so happy and you could just feel the love. The venue was beautiful and felt upscale and modern. It had an amazing rooftop where our ceremony took place and was later used for the cocktail hour and mingling in the evening.
Any advice for future brides/grooms-to-be?
My advice would be to do exactly what you want, even though it seems selfish everyone else will like it in the end. And don’t get too stressed out! We had a coordinator at the hotel who was in charge of our wedding, Charles Meeking at the Marriott Hotel and he was AMAZING. Our day would not have been as smooth and perfect if it weren’t for him helping us and organizing everything. I recommend trying to find someone or hiring a wedding planner to tell you what to do all day. I know it sounds silly since the bride has planned the day herself, but it’s nice to have someone telling you what to do next and where you need to be, etc.
