Hand-crafted Ashburn Wedding from Jessica Bossé Photography
Today I’m sharing a beautiful DIY wedding held at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club in Ashburn, Ontario and captured by Jess & Matt of Jessica Bossé Photography . It’s filled with so many pretty little details by a talented bride-to-be which added special touches to their wedding day.
Says Jessica: The forecast called for thunderstorms, but not a drop of rain was seen. A wedding day miracle! The bride, a design savvy graphic designer, hand-crafted a lot of the wedding day elements herself from the centerpieces to the cookie give-aways, cupcake dessert table, invitation suite and table seating chart. It’s a complete wonder how she was able to find time to do all of that, while keeping up with the rest of the wedding planning and managing her own business. After having experienced her own wedding, she hopes to start up another small paper goods business to be a part of other bride’s big day. A real superwoman! We are so honoured that she brought us along to capture her day!
What was your favourite wedding moment?
Spencer said his was watching me walk down the aisle, and my favourite moment was seeing him at the end of it! It was the most overwhelming feeling to be all dressed up on such a beautiful day, surrounded by everyone you love, walking towards your favourite person in the world. I was so overjoyed in that moment I was literally shaking!
Tell us about the inspiration behind your wedding.
I tried to DIY as much as I could including:
The invitation suite, programs and menu cards (I’d like to start a business eventually!)
Centrepieces we sprayed with glass-spray to make them look like mercury glass and then assembled the cut flowers the day before. Other DIY elements: snickerdoodle cookie favours and tags, lemon wedding cupcakes with vanilla buttercream icing, handwritten chalkboard seating chart, table numbers and tea lights
Special elements:
Definitely carrying my Great-Grandma’s hanky! She used it on her wedding day in 1928 and my Mom had it on hers in 1980.
Also, having the whole room sing happy 6th birthday to Spencer’s cousin (the flower girl) was awesome, I think she’ll remember it forever!
Any advice for future brides/grooms-to-be?
Spend the energy sourcing vendors you’re comfortable with so you don’t have to worry about every last detail. You’ll work so hard planning and organizing, make sure you enjoy yourself the day of.
