Rustic Yellow & Grey Wedding at Buffalo Mountain Lodge
It’s one of my favorite days of the week, the real wedding feature that’s sure to fill your day with loads of inspiration. Today’s wedding shot by our featured Love List member, Sarah Pukin Photography is utterly charming…a delightful combination of yellow, grey & white. Planned by Evelyn of Sweet Sylings Event Design , this wedding was held at Buffalo Mountain Lodge which was the perfect setting for a bride and groom who wanted to infuse a rustic character to their wedding. You’ll probably agree with me when I say the location itself is undeniably spectacular. Gotta love the picture above!
Our story takes place in the romantic orange light of a car parts warehouse. As university students, Ryan and I both made our way into the warehouse for a summer position. Ryan, from Burlington, Ontario and myself from Edmonton, Alberta weren’t sure how things between us might work out once summer ended. Two weeks after we began dating, Ryan told me he would like to stay in Edmonton to pursue our relationship– we were off to a great start!
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
We both agree that the favourite part of our wedding day was seeing one another for the first time. After all the chaos of getting ready, packing bags, and preparing last minute things, it was such a peaceful moment to look down the aisle at one another, in a crowd of supportive friends and family, and understand what made it all worthwhile.
Usually, favourite colours are black, grey and white. We felt that black was too heavy for the feel we wanted our wedding to have and we didn’t want our bridesmaids in black gowns in the summer heat. I searched everywhere for a colour that would work well and pale yellow fit so beautifully with my grey and white obsession. It also had the very whimsical and rustic feel that we were going for.
Advice for other brides-to-be?
START EARLY! We were engaged in August. We could have made our wedding one year later, but decided to enjoy being engaged and work our way through the planning process one step at a time. Having two years to plan allowed us to make all the DIY details, fun photo props and special touches that made our day exactly what we dreamed up.
