Walking Portugal's Coast: Beautiful Alentejo

WALKING IN PORTUGAL: THE ALENTEJO COAST

Swaying pink petals against a bright blue sky. Shards of rock ruffling the incoming waves. And the sense of solitude and freedom as one boot followed the other along the sand-sprung beauty of the Alentejo coastal path.

Nearly two years have passed since I had my first taste of a walking holiday – taking the Path of the Gods along Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

Since then I’ve had surgery that left me wondering whether I’d ever be able to take on a challenge like this again.

Well, just a few weeks ago, I laced my boots up once more.

This video is the taster. There’s a full article yet to come.

Disclosure – I travelled with Headwater Holidays on a complimentary basis for review purposes. This trip was hit by air strikes (in the industrial action kind of way, not the military sense, thankfully.) The experience really showed me (perhaps for the first time) the massive benefit of booking through a reputable tour operator. Headwater picked up the problem way ahead of me and dealt with it really well, booking us onto other flights at no extra cost. For this alone, I’d recommend them but there’s much more to it than that. Long time readers will know that I always keep the right to write what I like here – the good, the bad and the ugly – and nothing’s changed. Otherwise there’s just no point.
