The Allegheny Trail Crew will meet at the Tanbark Trail Saturday
The Allegheny Trail Crew will meet at the Hearts Content Campground on Saturday at 8am. Hearts Content is located 15 miles Southwest of Warren,PA. The Allegheny Trail Crew is a non-profit organization that helps to open up and maintain trails in the Allegheny National Forest.
This weekend’s event will focus on the Tanbark Trail. This trail is an 8.8 mile trail marked with white blazes. It stretches over mountainous wooded areas of the Allegheny Plateau from U.S. Route 62 to Hearts Content. The trail joins the North Country Trail at Dunham Siding.
This event is open to the public.Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to help with maintenance work on the trail. Participants will need to bring gloves, lunch, and a drink. Overnight camping is available at The Hearts Content Recreation Area.

Directions to Hearts Content:
From the Mohawk exit of Route 6, take Pleasant Drive(State Route 3005/337) south for 11 miles. At the hard curve, turn left onto a gravel road(State Route 3005); go south four miles to Hearts Content. Civilian Conservation (CCC) workers constructed the campground, picnic area, and pavilion in 1936. An exhibit of a hand-hewed log is adjacent to the picnic area.
