Happy Monday! We are back here with the pros from Windows Catering , for the second part of their awesome vendor interview!
Do you see more couples opting for dessert stations vs. wedding cakes?
We are finding that couples are still opting to include a wedding cake in the celebration. However, a lot of couples are becoming more creative and incorporating a variety of different spongecakes and icing flavors. Even mixing sweet and savory like olive oil and carrot cake. We find our couples are choosing different flavors for each tier as an option as well. Cake designs have trended to the more traditional and even casual like a “ naked” cake with no icing. We still see a lot of couples complimenting their wedding cake with bite size dessert displays that speak to the personality of the couple.
What are your recommendations when starting the planning process?
Do not be afraid to ask direct questions and have a budget in mind. Caterers need to hear what a couple’s vision is for their special evening. It can be frustrating for a planner and extend the planning process if couples aren’t clear on what they want. We formulate our menus and design elements around YOU, so tell us what you want! Also, do not write off a caterer based on budget concerns. Some of our favorite weddings have been intimate weddings at the home for 30 or 40 guests. Be creative and don’t get caught in a box. Feel free to challenge the idea of what a wedding “is”. It is what you want it to be!
