Simple Tricks To Stress-Free Travel

While staying in an upscale hotel is sometimes a nice way to pamper yourself, the steep nightly rates, cost of room service and paying for wireless can all add up to make a relaxing vacation turn stressful pretty quickly. Here are a few simple tricks that can lessen the stress, financial or otherwise, that sometimes comes with traveling.

Stay Somewhere That Has Everything You Need Right There

Rather than staying in a hotel, where they give you the bare minimum for your stay at the maximum price, stay in a vacation rental where you walk in and already have everything you would if you were in your own home. This is key for a number of reasons. It means you can pack lighter and leave home without having to worry about bringing things like a first aid kit, pillows and towels. It means you don’t need to run out to a convenience store to buy the toothpaste you forgot to pack.  It means you don’t have to pay for a laundry list of things that you are only going to use once and then throw away. You can simply show up with a bag of clothes and everything you need is already there, courtesy of the property owner. Most places even provide things like laundry detergent, shampoo and coffee.

Look For Places With A Kitchen

Everyone loves sampling local cuisine and trying new restaurants when they travel, but an easy way to save money and truly eat like a local is to cook like one.  A few days in Italy? Find a Tuscan Villa Rental, head to a farmer’s market, pick up a traditional Italian recipe and really get a taste of the local flavor.

Have Everyone Stay In One Place

Instead of blocking off a row of pricey rooms at a hotel, find a large house that will fit your entire group. The price per person will be lower and it makes coordinating the plans for each day of your trip much less stressful with everyone in one place. This is also a great option for weddings, reunions, families or a larger group traveling together.

Try Something Different

You want to look back at your vacation and it be memorable, not just another long weekend at a ritzy hotel that you can’t quite remember the name of. Traveling is an expense, no matter what way you look at it, so you might as well try something unique and get your moneys worth.
