Provided the rain doesn’t crimp things too much, there’s something for everyone Saturday in northwestern Pennsylvania’s state parks:
— McConnells Mill State Park has guided tours of its namesake grist mill at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Go early or stay late for a hike along Slippery Rock Creek.
— Help scour Cook Forest State Park for giant trees that might in fact break northeastern United States height records. If that doesn’t cut it for you, try the Fire Tower/Seneca Point historical tour .
— Check out the Wild Resource Festival at Presque Isle State Park.
— Try geocaching at Moraine State Park.
— Kids can learn about the Eriez and Seneca Indians at the Campfire Tales Native American Story Night at Presque Isle.
— Farther afield, watch elk at Parker Dam State Park or Sinnemahoning State Park , or discover the moon at the dark skies haven of Cherry Springs State Park.
