A Day in the Life Engagement Session in Toronto
Often brides and grooms choose out-of-the-box ideas for their engagement sessions. But today, Lisa & Gabe had Laura Clarke Photography to capture them in their element, an ordinary day doing the things they love most. And I must say, it’s kind of refreshing.
Says Laura: They really wanted an engagement session that captured them in their element and what they love most: cooking, enjoying their urban neighbourhood and each other. We worked together to create a “Day in the Life” type session where we started at their home enjoying a typical weekend morning, then we went to the park where Gabe proposed to Lisa, and we finished with a grocery shop at Ruby Eats .
My fiancé and I met four years ago on a night out in the town. At first glance, I knew there was something special between us. After playing email tag we finally planned our first date and since then we’ve been happily together.
Just thinking back to the day Gabe proposed to me brings a huge smile to my face. The emotions that came through me during the proposal reassures me that we are meant for each other and that our love is unconditional. I found out after that the date of the proposal was actually moved around quite a few times due to weather. Gabe planned a dinner at the Ritz Carlton Toronto Hotel as it’s location is along the walking path to our home as well as Berczy Park, the location of our second date. As we were walking home Gabe stopped me at the fountain in Berczy Park and went down on one knee. Still in awe and excitement we decided to go across the street to our favorite local bar, Pravda, for celebratory drinks. Gabe lead me upstairs and drew back curtains to a back room to reveal our entire wedding party. I was speechless and thrilled that we could share this moment with our closest family and friends.
When we booked our engagement shoot with Laura from Laura Clarke Photography, we knew we wanted every aspect of the photos to reflect us and our life together – something we could look back on and remember our lifestyle at this time. With our busy lifestyles we both spend a lot of time at our work and away from each other so our home is where we unwind, relax and share our love for food and cooking. A typical weekend starts with us hanging around our kitchen island sipping coffee and nibbling on an easy, put-together charcuterie spread. We chat and catch up with each other and enjoy planning out our weekend and creating a grocery list based on our recipes for dinner. Our favorite place to shop for local and organic ingredients is at Ruby Eats.
We knew that Berczy Park had to be one of our photo shoot locations. It’s not only the spot where we had our second date and where Gabe proposed but we often have picnics there and relax on sunny days in the summer. It’s also a beautiful spot that makes up our neighbourhood that we’ll always have fond memories of.
