There are several ways to haul the gun or bow of your choice on your ATV. Most would say that a good gun scabbard is the safest way to transport your rifle, there's also the option of gun clamps mounted to the front rack of your ATV (where legal of course). Then there are the questions of how to mount these two options and just when to use one over the other.

Getting the best bang for the buck is as easy as getting the gun scabbard such as the one offered by Yamaha as an accessory for the Grizzly 700. This scabbard made by Kolpin has a hard plastic outer shell as well as a soft inner liner and keeps your best rifle safe. Mounting this accessory on the rear rack facing downward into the left floorboard means you can still get off on the right side and control the throttle should the trail get sketchy.

Gun clamps for the front rack work well, but these will leave your gun or bow subject to the weather and elements from the camp to the stand. They work by literally clamping the rifle or shotgun into the rubber protective clamps for transport. They bolt to the front rack and are a viable option that can be used to hold some bows just the same. On the upside, it's easy to get your gun in and out quickly.

I prefer a rip stop cloth style Bow bag and I usually mount this on the front rack. This leaves room on the rear rack for my harvested deer or any other items like a climbing stand. These bags usually have Velcro straps or buckles that make them easy to install or remove when the ATV needs to be used for other tasks.
