Happy Friday :) Let’s end the week with another pretty wedding, this time held in the Nation’s capital, captured by Anna Jones Photography . Paris is an important spot for today’s couple, as Graham proposed to Megan while taking a walk on lle de la Cité in Paris, France. They brought some Parisian elements to their wedding to celebrate this memorable location. Happy weekend everyone.

How did you two meet?
My husband and I met in first year of undergrad. We were both studying at the University of Ottawa, were both working as Pages at the House of Commons and also both lived on the same floor! We started dating a month after our first semester began and have been together ever since!

What was the inspiration for your wedding decor/colours?
My fiancé Graham proposed one evening while we were taking a walk on Ile de la Cité in Paris, France. When we stopped our walk to sit on a bench and take in the beauty of the banks of the River Seine, Graham got on one knee and proposed! What made this even more special was that this trip was only the beginning of a year we spent in France while I was studying for my PhD at the Université de Corse. Thus, the parisian theme of our wedding décor was a great reminder of our proposal and engagement in France. The bright yellow and silver were chosen as our colours because of our summer (August) wedding date as well as to match the happiness and joy of this occasion!

What was your favorite wedding moment?
It really is difficult to pick a favourite moment from our wedding as I had the time of my life all day! I would have to say that our first dance was a favourite though – it is such a special and romantic moment. And to look around the room at all of our family and friends who have assembled to celebrate with us is truly an incredible feeling! I also really enjoyed the speeches as they were all heartfelt, yet humorous and entertaining. And, of course, tearing up the dance floor!!

Any advice for future brides/grooms-to-be?
The only piece of advice I’d like to share to brides and grooms is as follows: try not to over-think things. It’s easy to do and I know I was guilty of this at several moments before the big day, but this should not be a day to stress over! Sometimes this means following your instincts and tuning out other voices around you, but in the end it’s your big day! And don’t forget to soak in every moment leading up to it as well as the day of your wedding – it’s truly a once in a lifetime event :)
