I know you’re just going to love today’s featured wedding captured by Janice Yi Photography . The couple, Jin and Frank, absolutely outdid themselves, creating one-of-a-kind pieces for their downtown Toronto wedding. After months of searching for the perfect venue, Jin and Frank found Loftraum, a venue in the basement of the hermitage building built in 1870 in the heart of downtown. The brick walls served as a warm canvas for their rustic and vintage inspired wedding, complete with DIY rectangular wooden frame chandeliers strung with mason jars and lit candles. There were so many big and special moments of the day that it’s hard to choose. But I think my favorite moment was when Francois and I went down by the waterfront to take some of our last wedding shots together. With the whirlwind of the ceremony and the whole afternoon taking pictures with the bridal party and the family, it was just really nice to have that quiet alone time together and take all of it in. The sun began to peak out between the clouds, which made the scenery of the Toronto city landscape behind us even more gorgeous. While we were walking down towards the waters an ice cream truck stopped us to give us a free vanilla ice cream cones in celebration for our big day! This was really what they would say as ‘the cherry on top’!

After months of researching we had found a hidden gem in the center of downtown Toronto called Loftraum. Our venue, which was in the underground basement of heritage building built in 1870, had classic brick and stone architecture. We really wanted to accentuate these rustic details while creating a warm and intimate atmosphere for our guests. That is where our biggest DIY project came into plan as we constructed rectangular wooden frame chandeliers and strung hundreds of mix and matched mason jars with tea candles inside them. The overall effect in the room was just incredible, as it gave a soft romantic glow.  The brick walls offered a perfect blank canvas so we also hung our engagement photos in vintage, mismatched frames as an extra touch of decoration.

My husband and I tried our best to include things in the wedding that we personally love. It is in once in a lifetime that you get to plan a party like this so why not go all out? I’Find your Love Notes. Find your seats’ – For my birthday I had received a special package from my cousin, which include a notebook of all these vintage styled graphic love notes with heart warming messages. I turned it into another DIY project by turning them into place seating cards! My husband and I handpicked out the love notes for each guest and wrote their names and seating arrangements on the back of the card. The love notes were placed in alphabetical order in a wooden box at the welcome table, where the guests were able to search for their notes. I guess it was just a sweet way to welcome the guests and our way of kind of saying , ‘Hey we’re so happy to see you. Let’s party and make it a good night!” For the cocktail hour, we made sure we had our favourite local jazz band group, the Milestones Trio, playing and whilst have the bar pour out our signature cocktails. We are also both big coffee drinkers so our favors were none other than freshly roasted Columbian beans from our favourite coffee shop in town-the Fahrenheit. We hand stamped the burlap coffee bags with our initials and hand tied written name tags on them and used it as the guest’s place cards. I think our family and friends really appreciated these little personal details.
