Blush Pink Rustic Wedding in Missouri
Once in a while I share weddings held outside of Canada, but only if it’s totally swoon worthy. And today is one of those days, sharing Heather & Chris’ chic rustic wedding in Missouri.
Says Heather: As a designer, I had a very specific feel that I wanted the entire day to have: extremely romantic and ethereal mixed with a country backwoods setting. Everything chosen for the wedding was based on that idea, from the free-flowing fabric of my dress to the violin ceremony music.
The lush green forest that surrounded our venue and the A-frame lodge fit perfectly and really set the tone. I wanted it to seem like you entered some sort of enchanted forest celebration with string lights, wildflowers and fireflies. I drew inspiration from so many places: Nicolas Sparks movies, country songs, anything that had to do with warm summer nights under the stars.
How did you two meet?
Chris and I met in college here in St. Louis. I went south from Minnesota hoping to meet a cute southern boy with good manners and he came up north from Texas, not expecting to find me. So we met right here in the middle. With all of our mutual friends, it was only a matter of time before we would cross paths and fall for each other. We were pushed together one night to two-step at a local pub. He was wearing a cowboy hat and it was over from there.
What were your favourite wedding moments?
Above anything, I have to say the best part of our wedding was how much love filled that place. Not only the love between Chris and I, but the feeling of love from our families and dear friends. It was felt everywhere, it was immersed into everything and there’s nothing else like it. Our favorite part was sneaking out of the reception after dinner to have a few moments together. The day was so non-stop that it was great to breathe and say “we did it!”. Also, the dancing. We loved just looking around and seeing everyone laughing and having a good time on the dance floor, enjoying our day that we couldn’t believe was finally here.
Any advice for future brides/grooms-to-be?
People were amazed at how calm we both were that day. I know it’s because we’d already decided that everything was exactly as it should be, even if it went wrong. Whenever you can, stop and take a mental picture of what’s happening around you. Especially in all of the chaos.
When it comes down to the final hour, take things OFF of your to-do-list, don’t add more. It can be so tempting, but trust what you have and don’t try to do everything you see!
