Photo Gallery: Why I Changed My Mind About Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

While Puerto Iguazu makes for a great homebase for exploring Iguazu Falls, Argentina , upon first site there doesn’t seem to be much to do in the town. However, don’t be so quick to judge — like I was– as there are actually great hiking trails , beautiful ocean viewpoints, and fun bars, hostels , and restaurants.

I homebased at Hostel Bambu Mini, which is a really social, spacious and extremely clean hostel. There is a delicious free breakfast, as well, which includes ham, cheese, bread, fruit, and hot beverages. Moreover, the hostel can help you book tours and excursions.

Walk up Av. San Martin, the road right in front of the hostel, and make a right. Once you hit Av. Brasil, you’ll be greeted with a cute shopping area with lively bars and delicious eateries. The real gem of the town, however, is visiting Hito Argentino, the “three points” (Hito Tres Fronteras) where you can see Brazil , Argentina, and Paraguay. You can walk up Av. Tres Fronteras, which is down the hill right past Av. Brasil. Continue walking straight until you hit the water. This is where the road begins to loop, and you can follow it around, down Av. Eduardo Arrabal, back to the hostel. The views are breathtaking as you take in shimmering sea and lush jungle. Moreover, there are small parks, hiking trails, and public art to explore as you make your way back.
