This past month has been busy, hectic and exciting for James and myself.  Within the past week we celebrated our five-year anniversary, finished my masters degree, and was given a huge promotion and learned we are moving to San Diego!  In just a few days we went from planning a local, in town wedding to be the ones traveling the furthest for our own wedding.

Bride Blogger Update: DC to San Diego

When we started telling family and friends about our impending move, inevitably one of the first questions was, “What about the wedding?”   Now, more than ever, our decision to hire a wedding planner has paid off.  Last week we met with our planner and told her about the move and she quickly eased many of our concerns. We laid out a timeline of when we would need to make trips back to the east coast to make those few important decisions we have left. Now that we are planning a wedding from the opposite coast, the timeline has become so much more important.

Thankfully, we have already finalized a number of the big items on our wedding to list. However, there are still a number of things we will have to return to DC for: tastings, décor, fittings and our marriage license.  As our planner started to review the times we would need to come back, I was mentally adding up plane tickets, frequent flier miles and days taken off work.  Luckily, it was not as bad as I first anticipated.  James and I were already planning on heading back to the east coast for Christmas, so Jen suggested adding a few days to the trip during. During this time, we would have our cake tasting and my hair and makeup trials.  In mid-February a trip back will include the event James is most excited about – our dinner tasting.  Additionally, we will also look at flowers and begin dress fittings.  Finally, one of us would need to return to DC in April to get our marriage license.

The next few weeks will be crazy with packing, finding a house in San Diego, James’s sister’s wedding, and finally the big move.  However, James and I are both excited for our new adventure!
