Mt. Rainier!!
So, I am currently in Seattle and I’ve gotta say, it is a pretty cool city! I have yet to decide if i would like to live here (since it is an option for grad school) but I definitely like it. It has that city vibe but it isn’t so big that there is ONLY city, if that makes any sense. We went to the REI today which is the flagship store, and it was pretty sweet. I could have tsayed there forever and bought so many things…..but I issued self control!
Anyway, i am up in Seattle cause Steve, Rob, Aaron, and I are leaving tomorrow to go climb Mt Rainier…or attempt it anyway! We got all of our gear and stuff together and ran through some pulley and crevasse rescue stuff, just in case. We leave tomorrow morning for Paradise, and from there we will do the hike up to base camp, Camp Muir. I think it is a 4,500 elevation gain from Paradise to Muir, and then another 4,000 from Muir to the summit. We’ll do the first bit tomorrow and then hopefully have enough time to run over some anchors in the snow and stuff. We are going to try for the summit on Wednesday, but it all depends on the weather. If it doesn’t work out, we still have Muir reserved for Thursday night too, so we could always try it that day as well….or even Friday, if the weather really sucks. Luckily, the forecast is saying that it will be beautiful, so keep your fingers crossed!!!!!
