A Perfect Blend – The Real Wedding of D + J
When this wedding first crossed my path, the first thing I did was ‘ooh and aah’ over the gorgeously unexpected color combo. It became even more exciting for me when I found out that the DW team knew the couple personally. After that, it was hard not to fall in love with everything about it!
In the most basic of definitions, marriage is all about compromise. In our opinion, a wedding should be a symbol of that for the couple’s family and friends; a blending of what’s important to each of you to create a fresh, new life that represents why you are who you are.
By incorporating both of their home states, North Carolina and Virginia, they each had the perfect amount of details involved {We crushed on the hidden dogwood flower in her bouquet!} that defined them both separately and together!
When it was all said and done, the affair was filled with love, laughter and cherished memories, and it all started when she walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” recreated by a classical music trio.
The abundance of blooms and the complete air of romance in Oak Ridge Estate’s garden setting only served to highlight the liveliness of this couple’s relationship, and the proof is on your screens today!
Favorite Detail: “As a way to save on our budget, we had a bouquet-making party with my bridesmaids the day prior. We had a great time putting together the bouquets and sipping on mimosas! When we were done, each girl had a beautiful and unique bouquet for the ceremony.”
Cocktail hour consisted of appetizers such as VA ham biscuits and fried green tomatoes as well as NC boiled peanuts and VA roasted peanuts. Jes, the groom was a craft beer love, so instead of a traditional “signature” drink, he chose to have a beer tasting for the guests to sample his favorite VA & NC beers before choosing their own favorite!
