Rose Inspired Wedding in Quebec
Can’t think of a better way to start the week then to share a beautifully crafted wedding in Quebec. Captured by Laura Kelly Photography , no detail was left unplanned, as the bride and groom wanted the wedding day to ‘feel classic but also warm and inviting’. Patrick and Barbara both love the outdoors and with the garden inspired wedding in a colour palette of rose and white, it made for a beautiful decor. Some of the details you might enjoy was the custom wax Airedale stamp which was their way of including their dog Finn at the wedding. And the wedding arch was actually made by the bride’s father with love and detailed by baby’s breath the day of the wedding. It actually rained just as the bride was saying her vows, but you can tell that not a drop mattered except the love shared between the two that day.
Patrick and I both love the outdoors so we didn’t want our wedding to feel closed in – we wanted a real garden feel, very fresh, very crisp, very green, very classic. Our color pallet was a soft misty Rose (the head table flowers, sweet table, menu cards and signage, and the bridesmaids were clad in this color) with small touches of a darker misty rose shade (our custom stamp, the dessert table popcorn, the favors), hydrangea green (the groomsmen ties, the flower arrangements, and the boutonnieres), cream (Bride’s dress, flower girls, the baby’s breath arch, linens, all other flower arrangements), and muted gold (the chivalry chairs, the wedding signage, the plate ware, and the table numbers). We wanted the wedding day to feel classic but also warm and inviting (not stuffy!) so we dressed up approx. 270 different sized mason jars with lace sleeves (sown by my amazing sister and I) and burlap. The contrast against the rich dishware, wine glasses and gold rimed plates was really great! The first glance! I was so apprehensive about doing this first glance because I felt that I wanted to preserve that traditional walk down the aisle, but this was the very best choice we could of made for “US” as a couple. Having now done the first glance, I really think that the walk down the aisle is sometimes more about the guests seeing the grooms reaction to the bride than for the couple’s experience. That half hour first glance photo-shoot that we had pre-ceremony was really special – because I got to enjoy Patrick’s reaction (and he mine) and to be close-up to it and to him (we were able to suspend that moment for way longer because we didn’t have our guests waiting for what was next). It was the only real time that Pat and I had throughout the whole day that was just for us. And Pat was still teary eyed when I walked down the aisle to him – we were able live in the moment during the ceremony and to better enjoy the ceremony because we had that first glance and had gotten our nerves under control – all we had left was joy!
