A lovely engagement session graces the front of the blog this morning captured by Gemini Photography . Jaclyn & Ryan held the session in Niagara, taking photos among the beautiful trees & peaches of the orchard. They’ll be married on New  Years Eve of 2012.

How did you two meet?

We met when we were in Grade 6. Ryan is my cousins best friend. By grade 10 my cousin kept telling me that Ryan really wanted to take me out and that I should give him a shot. It started with a ‘kissagram’ (where you can send little messages on paper to the girls/boys that you liked in our high school). Since then, we’ve been dating ever since.

How did he Ryan propose?

Ryan surprised me with the proposal. He told me he had booked something and to dress ‘nice but warm’ (that’s a hard combination). I am a HUGE fan of surprises and of course having know me for 8 years… he knew that very well. Ryan picked my up at 3pm… blind fold in hand. We drove for about an hour and I just assumed we were driving to my absolute favourite restaurant- the Olive Garden. Nope. We ended up in Niagara on the Lake. I’d never been but was in awe of all the beautiful wineries. To my surprise, we pulled into one. Ryan told me to wait in the car but it was October 1st… and it was freezing that night. I remember watching him try to find the entrance and in the end, I think I beat him to it. The lady that greeted us asked if we were there for the private tour. Turns out… he had booked a private tour of the winery for the two of us.

So we went on our tour. I asked a million questions and didn’t stop to question why he just kept saying ‘interesting’. He was nervous. When I look back at the pictures I can see it in his smile.

We got to the end of the tour and our tour guide just happened to forget the wine glasses for our tasting. I said ‘oh that’s ok’ as she left to grab some from the kitchen. I turned around to see Ryan pull out three roses from his jacket! (He had been hiding them all along). He said: “Jackie I brought you these flowers. This one represents the past, this one is for the present and this one is for the future”. He then got down on his knee and said, “You are the love of my life. You’re going to be the most amazing wife and an incredible mother. I’ll love you till the day I die. Will you marry me?”

I don’t remember the ring going on my hand at all. I was in shock and so extremely happy.

Right on cue our tour guide appeared to pop the champagne and take photos of our moment. Then I find out… Ryan had booked a 7 course meal and wine tasting for the two of us and we were staying overnight. Candles, roses, champagne… the works. It was by far the happiest day of my life.
