Classic Elegance in New Brunswick

Goooood morning everyone. Back to the real weddings on this pretty Wednesday morning, this one set in New Brunswick and captured by Julie Whitlock Photography . Today’s couple (Nathania & Mark) are both ironman athletes. While training (at what Nathania tells me included a 3 hour spin class, 1 hour run and 2 hour power yoga – wow!), she noticed Mark on the bike next to her and after chatting a bit, she took a chance by giving him her card.

“Our first date lasted over 4 hours and I knew there was something special about him. Fast forward almost 2 years and Mark proposed. We were at his cottage for Thanksgiving weekend. It was a beautiful fall day and he suggested we take some wine and go for a walk in the woods. At one point he turned to me and hugged me. His heart was beating so fast that I knew something was up. He got down on one knee and the rest is history.

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?

I can honestly say that the entire day was my favorite moment. Waking up early and hiking with 20 of my closest girlfriends, getting ready and transforming into a bride with my bridesmaids, my mother going to every effort to make that one day amazing for me, walking down the aisle with my father, seeing my future husband for the first time, our hilarious and YouTube worthy wedding party entrance, Mark and I attempting the fox trot for our first dance, My brother roasting Mark and I during his MC speech, Marks brother and his touching and very emotional speech, My best friend giving the speech of her life and learning more about our friendship in those 5 min’s than the last 10 years of our friendship, our parents undying support, the entire room busting onto the dance floor and not leaving until the lights came on. Walking back to our suite, hand in hand with my husband, excited to start our lives together. After experiencing such joy in so many moments, you can understand how there isn’t just one favorite moment!

What was your inspiration behind your overall wedding decor and colour choices?

Elegance expressed in Candle Light, Creams and Gold’s. Many people feel like a wedding is all about the bride, and in many cases this is the truth but I wanted to create a day for my friends and family. All my time and effort went into planning this special day as a way to thank everyone we care about. We wanted people to walk into the room and feel that love for them. If for only an evening we aspired to take them away from their everyday chaos and feel special.

Do you have any advice for other brides-to-be?

Enjoy every moment, even the planning. It can get very overwhelming and feel never ending but it will be the only time you experience so much joy and so much love in one single day. If I were to do it all over again the only thing I would do differently is hire a wedding planner for the day of the wedding. We didn’t use a wedding planner leading up to the wedding and that was fine, but my poor mother almost ran herself silly trying to get every last thing taken care of for me the day of my wedding. I would have liked her to enjoy the day as much as I did.
