I am a big fan of the next artist, Justine Ma , who is creative beyond words. We’ve actually featured her on Wedding Obsession twice already with her personal engagement shoots (see here and here ). In her featured suite as styled by Pink & Honey and captured by Shannon Yau Photography , I love how her calligraphy is paired with a modern typography and showcased in a bold black, white and glitter theme.

How long have you been designing stationery?
Since my University days! With many friends getting married at that time, I would gift them wedding invitations. It helped me build client relationships early in the game and save some dollars as a student!

Describe your inspiration behind the design?
Clean and classic with glitz! Who doesn’t love a little glitter? Using both calligraphy and fonts, I tried to create a nice mix of traditional and contemporary.

Describe your style.
I’m definitely a fun, slightly quirky, and a little bit cheeky of a designer. I love glitter and anything that sparkles. I do like to mix styles especially when it comes to weddings. I love the look of something hand generated. When it has that look, you know it’s coming from someone’s art. When it’s hand generated, a lot more effort goes into it, rather than it being pumped out of a machine. I hand mixed the glitter on these particular invitations and it’s nice to add a bit craft into your work.

What or who are the main influences on your style/designs?
I try to gain most of my inspiration from the people around me. I love surrounding myself with makers and fellow designers/artists. I definitely look to see what other calligrapher or hand letterers are doing as well, even to educate myself on different techniques.

What is your favourite colour combination or design detail that you are in love with right now?
I’m in love with the rose gold trend right now! It’s every bit girly and so soft and romantic. I’ve been mixing lots of glitter for clients who are wanting the perfect tint of rose gold on their pieces. I’ve also been diving deep into wedding signage. I think it’s a really nice detail for your guests (and for the photos!) to see everything tie together.
