Jackie & Kris met in eleventh grade and ever since their last year of high school they’ve been together ever since. Held at the family acreage in Sturgeon County (Alberta), the wedding has a inherent sweetness about it, simple yet filled with so many meaningful details that speak volumes. The burlap, mason jars and soft color palette are just pretty together and I am so excited to share this wedding with you! Photos are by Rhiannon of Don’t Say Cheese .

What was your inspiration behind your overall wedding decor and colour choices?

I wanted something simple and vintage feeling. I have always dreamed of an outdoor wedding with string lights and classic jazz music. I had a strong desire to create the look with DIY ideas and spent hours looking at photos online to get ideas. As for my color choices- I basically felt that having an outdoor summer wedding I didn’t have to stick to just one colour theme and chose my favourites: a golden yellow, and icy blue colour and used alot of rustic accents like burlap, twine and kraft paper (I LOVE KRAFT PAPER!). I also had some soft pinks to add some feminine charm.

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?

Late into the reception, my husband and I stole away to go and lay down in the grass together.

Do you have any advice for other brides/grooms-to-be?

Try to do as much in advance as you can, working a little bit as you go, a nice pace. That way, you can spend the days leading up really anticipating the wedding rather than running around stressed. Is this possible? Not likely but at the end of the day you won’t get to every single detail anyways. Taking time to go on last minute dates with your fiance is nice too :)
