When it comes to choosing a wedding ceremony or reception venue, I always appreciate venues that are a reflection of the couple’s personality and interests. Karran & Andrew were married atop Grouse Mountain, commonly referred to as the peak of Vancouver, and it was captured so beautifully by Cole & Jakob, the talented duo of Nordica Photography . The images are timeless, sophisticated and so full of emotion. I asked Karran (the glowing bride) to share their reason for choosing this unique wedding location.

We chose Grouse Mountain, for our wedding ceremony and reception, for several reasons. Grouse Mountain is known for being one of the more environmentally sustainable venues in BC, and it was important to both Andrew and I to choose a venue with good environmental practices. Grouse Mountain is also a beautiful location that allows for a wedding that feels removed and natural while still being easily accessible for out of town guests staying downtown. Andrew and I both love the outdoors and so this venue was perfect.

Wedding décor was kept to a minimum in order to focus on the natural beauty surrounding us at Grouse Mountain. With the water and mountains framing the venue, we really didn’t have to do much. We choose to have simple romantic arrangements, using florals that were local and in season. Granville Island Florists did our arrangements for us. They do an amazing job. We also chose to have individual wedding cakes at every table as appose to one larger wedding cake. It was a unique idea that everyone loved…not to mention the cake was a delicious chocolate cake from Butter Baked Goods (best bakery in Vancouver…I love it). We then had a well known local artist, Victoria Heryet, finish the centre pieces with select floral petals and sugared fruit. Each centre piece was a work of art.

It was important to us to keep all elements environmentally sustainable while still incorporating a romantic elegance to everything we did. Everything turned out perfectly!
