Classic Pink + Soft Teal Wedding in Guelph

This week is just filled with boundless ‘gorgeousness’ and loads of details to inspire you. Gracing the front of the blog today is a wedding held in Guelph, Ontario shot by Jenn of Bloom Photography . Shannon and Matt were engaged for nearly 2 years, so they were prepared and felt relatively at ease in planning their special day. I love the sweet details like the succulent styled boutonnieres and Shannon in soft pink point shoes. Each photo makes me want to get married again…

The proposal: Matt and I moved into our new house in June 2010, so we weren’t taking any fancy vacations that year. We took a week off at the end of August and spent 4 days camping in Tobermory. We had spent the summer celebrating a lot of friends’ engagements, but I never suspected that Matt would propose to me while camping. After having been together so long and with the new house, I started to assume that we had to wait, whether I liked it or not! On August 30th, we went hiking through the Bruce Trail up to a gorgeous lookout point. Matt suggested we take some photos overlooking the water. He asked that I walk out to the edge and then turn around for my photo. When I turned around, though, Matt was on one knee and he proposed to me. Of course, I said yes! We joke to this day that I had no choice since he had literally walked me to the cliff’s edge!

How they met: Matt and I have known each other since he moved to Guelph from Calgary when he was 10. We were neighbours for 10 years. We didn’t spend a lot of time together until we were in high school. We started dating just before my 16th birthday. Our first date was in February 2000 when we went skating at the local outdoor rink. It remains one of my favourite first dates and I still remember him giving me his jacket for the walk home since it was so cold out. We dated on and off for about 2 years, were each other’s dates for our proms, and then went our separate ways. He both went to school and moved home after we were done. We reconnected in 2007 and, despite a long distance relationship while I was in physio school, we’ve been inseparable since.

The last 4 months, and definitely the last 4 weeks, were the most intense with all of the events and small details to take care of. I loved planning my wedding, though, and don’t regret a single choice. I had so much help from family and friends that I owe them an eternal thank you for making our day so perfect. It truly takes a large number of people to create such wonderful moments and Matt and I couldn’t have done it without our whole team!
